DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE HOSTING “COUNTRY STORE”
AT POWER PARK SATURDAY

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture (WVDA) will host a “West Virginia Country Store” featuring food products made by West Virginia companies at the West Virginia Power baseball game Saturday, July 11, 2009. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Shoppers will also receive a $2 coupon good toward produce or a $5 coupon toward a Christmas tree at Capitol Market, located two blocks from the ballpark.

In addition, the first 500 people through the gate will also receive a reusable “West Virginia Grown” shopping bag.

Commissioner of Agriculture Gus R. Douglass said the purpose of the promotion was to familiarize fans with the wide variety of specialty food products made in West Virginia. He also praised the team’s management for opening up the park to community promotions.

“The West Virginia Power has always worked with the Department of Agriculture to promote agriculture,” he said. “They have always been very cooperative and have taken a great interest in the success of West Virginia generally.”

He also noted that Power Park’s hot dog sauce is manufactured by the Custard Stand, located in Webster Springs.

For more information, contact the WVDA's Marketing and Development Division at 304-558-2210.
