CAPITOL MARKET HONEY FEST SET FOR SATURDAY
Honey lovers and honey producers will gather Saturday, September 13, in Charleston, W.Va., at Capitol Market for the annual “Honey Fest.”
“This event is a great opportunity for the public to learn about beekeeping, sample some of West Virginia’s unique honey flavors, and maybe pick up some great honey recipes,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Gus R. Douglass. “Of course, there will also be plenty of honey for sale, and I encourage everyone to take a big jar home with them.”
Bee beard demonstrations are scheduled for 12:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., weather permitting.
There will be plenty of attractions for producers as well. Entries for the honey contest, beekeeping photo contest and honey baking contest must be submitted by 11 a.m. Saturday.
Ribbons will be awarded at noon. Display tables also will be available for $10. For complete rules or more information, call the West Virginia Department of Agriculture’s Marketing and Development Division at 304-558-2210.
