USDA DISTRIBUTES ORAL RABIES VACCINE ACROSS MID-ATLANTIC STATES
Officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, together with West Virginia's Department of Agriculture and Virginia's Department of Health will be available Tuesday, August 8, to discuss the states' oral rabies vaccine (ORV) bait distribution programs slated to begin that day. This year USDA is shifting the vaccination zone five miles, and more than 1.7 million fishmeal baits will be distributed across portions of western Maryland, central West Virginia and southwestern Virginia in an effort to stop the spread of raccoon rabies.
The event is an opportunity for media representatives to interview experts on rabies, view one of the planes used in the ORV program, tour the ORV mobile command post and see the fishmeal cube baits and coated sachets that are being distributed throughout seven counties in Virginia and 24 counties in West Virginia.
Upon arrival, please enter the main building where airport personnel will escort you to the event site.
In-flight b-roll will be available.
