AGRICULTURE FIELD DAY TO BE HELD IN PRESTON COUNTY
An agriculture field day will be held Saturday, August 26, 2006 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Mountain Diamond Longhorn Farm, owned by Dave and Barb Miller, near Tunnelton, W.Va.
A variety of issues will be discussed and demonstrated throughout the day, including beekeeping, gardening techniques, aquatic weed control, and farrier and equine demonstrations. There will also be a session on the history of the Longhorn breed, as well as genetic techniques for horn generation, leaner meat and hide coloring to maximize niche marketing. One of the highlights of the day will be a fresh-from-the-farm picnic lunch.
The event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Call the Preston County Extension Office at 304/329-1391 for more information or to register.
