AGRICULTURE AND CONSERVATION ORGANIZATIONS TO VISIT CAPITOL VALENTINE'S DAY
Agriculture and Conservation Day at the Capitol will be Tuesday, February 14, 2006 , in the Capitol Rotunda. The public is invited to a reception featuring West Virginia Grown products at 1:30 p.m.
Various organizations will have informational displays and representatives on hand to answer questions, including the West Virginia Conservation Agency (WVCA) and the West Virginia Department of Agriculture (WVDA).
"This year, we will be celebrating our agribusiness success stories," said Commissioner of Agriculture Gus R. Douglass. " West Virginia 's gourmet products have won numerous awards at food shows across the country and they continue to expand their visibility, at home and abroad. When you try them, you'll know that they are as good as anything you'll find anywhere."
WVDA booths will include information on numerous Department programs including exotic plant pests, regulatory and consumer protection programs, animal health activities and bird flu surveillance at the Moorefield laboratory. WVDA Communications Division will debut a new Department video.
WVCA will feature displays from more than a dozen districts in the state, along with displays from other agencies involved in watershed protection activities.
Media note: For more information, or to set up an interview, contact WVDA Communications Officer Buddy Davidson via cell phone at 541-5932.
