WVDA SEEKING CAST-IRON SKILLET RECIPES
The West Virginia Department of Agriculture (WVDA) is seeking cast-iron skillet recipe submissions for a new cookbook to be published by the Department in coming months.
“Cast iron cooking is a longstanding tradition in the Mountain State and we’re hoping to capture some of that tradition in this publication,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Gus R. Douglass. “However, we are also looking for creative recipes as well as traditional ones.”
Recipes can include stove-top specialties, baked items and even desserts. Imagination is the only limiting factor. The name of the submitter will be included with every published recipe.
Submissions should be mailed to West Virginia Department of Agriculture, 1900 Kanawha Blvd. East, Charleston, WV 25305, Attn: Jean Smith/Cast Iron Recipes, or e-mailed to jsmith@ag.state.wv.us. Deadline for submissions is March 15, 2006.
The West Virginia Department of Agriculture protects plant,
animal and human health through a variety of scientific, regulatory
and consumer protection programs, as mandated by state law. The
Commissioner of Agriculture is one of six statewide elected officials
in West Virginia. Currently, Commissioner Gus R. Douglass is the
longest-serving agriculture commissioner in the nation. For more
