FOOD MARKETING EXPERT TO SHARE INSIGHTS WITH STATE BUSINESSES
A Houston-based food marketing expert will share her expertise with West Virginia agribusiness owners during a workshop at the Morgantown Radisson Hotel November 1.
Michelle Williams of Baker Communications in Houston , Texas , will present "Trade Show Strategies: Creating the Payoff" from 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m. The presentation will focus on face-to-face strategies for building relationships and closing deals during food industry trade shows.
Williams' fee is being paid by the West Virginia Specialty Foods Cooperative, Inc., through a state Workforce Development grant. The West Virginia Department of Agriculture (WVDA) provides marketing assistance and publicity for the group.
"This presentation is an excellent example of the importance of the specialty food industry to the state's tourism economy and provides our producers with a hands-on workshop that will help them be competitive in the regional, national and international arenas," said Specialty Food Cooperative President Kay Kingry, owner of Dark Hollow Foods in Dunbar.
Williams' presentation will coincide with, but is not a part of the "Governor's Conference on Tourism," to be held at the same location October 31-November 2.
Williams has been a featured speaker at the New York Fancy Foods Show, one of the largest gourmet foods shows in the world. She has been conducting training in sales, negotiations, presentation skills and adult teaching techniques for more than 20 years.
Some of her clients have included Novell, Texaco, 3M, JC Penney, Texas Instruments, American Airlines, the Mayo Clinic and many other Fortune 500 firms. She is a graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, with degrees in Psychology and Business Administration. She currently lives in Dallas with her husband, Steve.
