THIRD ANNUAL FARM FIELD DAY TO BE HELD AT DIAMOND
M LONGHORNS
A farm field day will be held at Diamond M Longhorns Farm in Tunnelton,
Preston County. The event is being hosted by farm owner Dave Miller,
and will take place Saturday, August 23, 2003, from 10 a.m. - 3
p.m.
The event will have a number of presentations and displays that
will provide farmers with information on maximizing production and
profit. The event is free and open to the public.
Expected highlights will be a demonstration steer ride by Woody,
Millers tame longhorn steer and, of course, a farm-fresh lunch.
Presentations will include direct marketing tactics by Ed Grose
of Montcroft Farms, current animal health issues by West Virginia
Department of Agricultures State Veterinarian Joe Starcher,
D.V.M., West Virginia feedlot operations by Bill Grose, and raising
fish in farm ponds by Dr. Ken Semmens of West Virginia University.
Ongoing demonstrations will include wool spinning by the Preston
County Spinning Club and Master Gardener information from John Jett.
Buckeye Feeds Noah Perry will have a display set up throughout
the day, and area Tractor Supply Stores will display a new gating
system.
