WESTON FARMERS MARKET TO REOPEN MONDAY
The Central Appalachian Rural Products Center, formerly the Weston
Farmers Market, will have a grand reopening ceremony Monday,
July 28, 2003, from 1-4 p.m. A ribbon-cutting will occur at approximately
1:15 p.m., according to the West Virginia Department of Agriculture
(WVDA).
State and local dignitaries have been invited to attend the ceremony
at the market, which has been closed since March, when the former
operators gave up the lease. The new operator of the market will
be Terry Mathews.
Activities scheduled for the day include:
Honey Extraction George Clutter, WVDA Apiary Specialist.
Glass Blowing - Chip Turner, Appalachian Glass.
Wood Carving - Ulrika Browning, Hollow Woods.
Pottery Making - Kirsten Medlock, Earthen Vessels.
Candle Dipping - Judy DeGarmo, Candle Magic.
Bead Work - Rachel Browning.
Quilters - Rachel Browning and a variety of other quilters from
the community.
The Bluegrass Band Lonesome Ride will perform throughout
the afternoon, and will debut a tribute to Jessica Lynch. Refreshments
will be provided by Poppa Bears Kitchen, the restaurant
going in at the market.
Besides the restaurant, the building will continue to house the
W.Va. Honey Producers Co-op, the states only beekeeping extraction
and supply facility. The market will continue to sell local produce.
