CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AGAIN PLANNED FOR FARM MUSEUM
The West Virginia State Farm Museum near Point Pleasant once again
is planning one of the largest displays of Christmas lights in the
state. More than 2 million lights will grace the grounds. The display
will run from December 12-22, from 6-9 p.m. each night.
The Christmas lights are quickly becoming a traditional attraction
for the families of the area, said Commissioner of Agriculture
Gus R. Douglass. Im very pleased that this facility
is more than just a collection of old farm equipment. The State
Farm Museum grounds are used for festivals year-round, and those
events provide recreation and education about the rural past of
our state. I encourage everyone to pay a visit at some point during
the year.
More than 10,000 visitors toured the Farm Museum grounds during
last years Christmas season. Besides the lights, the Farm
Museums Country Store and Country Kitchen will be open, kids
can have their photo taken with Santa, and chilly visitors can enjoy
free hot cocoa and cookies.
However, the real attractions are the lights.
Were always adding more lights, said Farm Museum
employee Teresa Bailey. Weve decorated every tree, building
and shrub, and last year, we even rolled some of the old farm equipment
out of the building and decorated it.
