WEST VIRGINIA DIRECT MARKETING ASSOCIATION FALL TOUR SET FOR
SEPTEMBER 26
The West Virginia Direct Marketing Association (WVDMA) will sponsor
its semi-annual fall farm tour Thursday, September 26, in Berkeley
and Jefferson Counties.
Participants will have the opportunity to visit successful farms
and see firsthand how owners are using their properties and products
to the fullest potential.
Among the planned stops are George Orr and Sons Orchards and Farm
Market, Shenandoah Valley Sportsmens Club and Lodge, Jefferson
Greenhouses, Ridgefield Farm and Twin Ridge Farm. The group will
meet in Martinsburg at Exit 16 (Queen Street, East) on I-81 in the
Comfort Inn parking lot at 10 a.m.
According to Cindy Martel, Marketing Specialist for the West Virginia
Department of Agriculture (WVDA), the sessions will be valuable
for those seeking to maximize their return on agricultural products,
or for someone who is interested in turning their green thumb into
a little extra spending money.
Theres always a variety of facilities to visit on these
WVDMA tours, and people can see how others are turning agriculture
into money, said Martel. Some sell their produce directly
for profit, while others use cooking or crafting to add value.
Participants do not have to be members of WVDMA to attend, although
memberships will be sold the day of the event. Reservations are
due by September 16.
