DIRECT MARKETING FIELD DAY SET FOR AUGUST 24
A direct marketing Field Day for agricultural products will be
held at the Dave Miller Farm in Kingwood, W.Va., on Saturday, August
24. The Field Day will feature seminars about value-added beef production,
specialty crop management and production, farm pond management and
fee fishing enterprises, agricultural tourism initiatives in the
region, certified potato marketing, results from the West Virginia
University (WVU) Organic Farm Research project, and diverse enterprise
opportunities in Longhorn cattle production.
Speakers include Darol Dickinson of Dickinson Longhorns, Tom Ford
from Penn State University, Ed Grose from Terra Alta, W.Va., and
Bill Shockey from the WVU Extension Service.
In addition to seminars, the Field Day will feature a variety of
displays from farm agencies and organizations. Farm tours via hayrides
will be available during the day for visitors to experience direct
marketing enterprises in operation. The program will begin at 10:00
a.m. and lunch will be provided.
There is no charge for the Field Day, but participants are asked
