About Us

The Environmental Programs section of the West Virginia Department of Agriculture’s (WVDA), Regulatory and Environmental Affairs Division is based out of our WVDA Moorefield Regional Agricultural Center.  The Environmental Programs section began in 1993 with one chemist operating out of a small laboratory facility analyzing the nutrient content of poultry litter and other animal manure samples.  Today, the Environmental Programs section has expanded to other programs such as water quality testing, bacterial source tracking, and participation in the Chesapeake Bay Program and the Ohio River Sub Basin initiative.
